Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • The file is in Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The manuscript follows the journal’s formatting and structure guidelines.
  • The manuscript has been anonymized for double-blind review.
  • All authors have provided their ORCID identifiers.
  • References are complete and properly formatted.
  • The use of Artificial Intelligence tools, if any, has been disclosed.
  • The manuscript complies with ethical standards and does not contain plagiarism.

Author Guidelines

1. Scope, originality, and relevance

Enlaces – Journal of Linguistic and Literary Studies publishes original and unpublished works in Linguistics and Literary Studies, as well as their interfaces with teaching, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and qualified academic debate.

Manuscripts must:

  • be original and not under review elsewhere;
  • present relevance to the field;
  • demonstrate theoretical and methodological consistency;
  • show clear and rigorous argumentation.

The journal does not accept manuscripts that involve:

  • plagiarism or inappropriate self-plagiarism;
  • data fabrication or manipulation;
  • misuse of sources or references.

2. Accepted genres

The journal accepts the following genres:

  • research articles;
  • critical reviews;
  • academic interviews (with leading scholars);
  • experience reports;
  • theoretical-critical essays;
  • essays on language teaching;
  • didactic sequences;
  • teaching materials.

3. Languages

The journal accepts manuscripts written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, promoting international academic dialogue.

4. Submission

Submissions must be made exclusively through the journal system.

Authors must provide the following metadata:

  • manuscript title;
  • abstract;
  • keywords;
  • full author name(s);
  • institutional affiliation;
  • ORCID iD;
  • funding information (when applicable).

All manuscripts must include:

  • abstract in the original language;
  • abstract in English;
  • keywords (3–5);
  • keywords in English (3–5).

5. File and anonymization

Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx format and prepared for double-blind peer review.

The file must not contain:

  • author identification;
  • institutional identification in the text;
  • identifiable acknowledgements;
  • identifying information in file properties.

6. Manuscript structure

All manuscripts must include:

  • title in the original language;
  • title in English;
  • abstract;
  • keywords;
  • abstract (English);
  • keywords (English);
  • main text;
  • references.

Internal organization should follow the genre, without mandatory fixed section headings.

7. Formatting

  • Times New Roman, size 12;
  • 1.5 line spacing;
  • 2.5 cm margins;
  • justified alignment.

8. Citations, references, and formatting standards

Manuscripts must:

  • follow ABNT standards (preferably);
  • ensure consistency between citations and references;
  • include page numbers in direct quotations;
  • maintain standardized references;
  • properly use notes, tables, and figures.

9. Ethics and research integrity

Authors must:

  • ensure originality;
  • guarantee accuracy of information;
  • follow ethical research standards;
  • properly attribute authorship and sources.

10. Use of Artificial Intelligence

When AI tools are used, authors must declare:

  • the tool used;
  • its purpose.

It is not permitted to:

  • assign authorship to AI;
  • use AI in ways that compromise academic integrity.

11. Scientific transparency and supplementary materials

Authors may indicate:

  • preprint availability;
  • data availability;
  • research instruments;
  • teaching materials;
  • supplementary files.

12. Statements at the end of the manuscript

When applicable, authors may include:

  • conflict of interest;
  • funding;
  • authorship contribution;
  • data availability;
  • AI use.

13. Editorial process

The editorial process includes:

  1. compliance check;
  2. editorial screening (desk review);
  3. double-blind peer review;
  4. editorial decision;
  5. publication.

Manuscripts may be:

  • accepted;
  • accepted with revisions;
  • returned;
  • rejected.

ARTICLE

Publishes original and unpublished scientific articles presenting relevant research results in Linguistics and Literary Studies, including their interfaces with teaching. Submissions must demonstrate a consistent theoretical framework, clearly defined objectives, methodological rigor, and critical analysis of results, contributing significantly to the advancement of the field.

REVIEWS

Publishes critical reviews of recent and relevant works in Linguistics and Literary Studies. Submissions must go beyond mere description, situating the work within the academic field, engaging with theoretical references, and presenting a well-founded critical analysis. They should contribute to scholarly debate and the qualified circulation of knowledge.

ESSAYS

Publishes academic essays presenting consistent theoretical reflection and critical contribution to Linguistics and Literary Studies, including their interfaces with teaching. This section includes theoretical-critical essays and essays on language teaching, provided they are grounded in academic literature and structured by consistent argumentation.

ACADEMIC INTERVIEWS

Publishes academic interviews with recognized scholars in Linguistics and Literary Studies. Submissions must include an introductory section contextualizing the interviewee and their academic relevance, as well as demonstrate the interview’s contribution to contemporary scholarly debate. They should engage with relevant themes and be grounded in the field.

EXPERIENCE REPORTS

Publishes experience reports that articulate practical experiences with consistent theoretical analysis within Linguistics and Literary Studies, particularly in their interfaces with teaching. Submissions must go beyond description, presenting problematization, critical reflection, and academic contribution to the field.

DIDACTIC SEQUENCES

Publishes didactic sequences that present planning, implementation, and analysis of teaching practices linked to Linguistics and Literary Studies. Submissions must include theoretical grounding, methodological description, and critical analysis of their implementation.

TEACHING MATERIALS

Publishes teaching materials accompanied by theoretical grounding and critical analysis, demonstrating their relevance to Linguistics and Literary Studies. Submissions must clearly present objectives, context of use, and academic contribution.

Privacy Statement

The names, email addresses, and other personal data provided to this journal will be used exclusively for the services of this publication, including editorial management, communication with authors, reviewers, and readers, and the maintenance of the journal system.

Personal data will not be shared with third parties for commercial purposes or any improper use.
