Abstract

This experience report aims to discuss the mobilization of interdisciplinary knowledge in the initial education of Portuguese Language teachers, drawing on a supervised teaching practicum carried out in an undergraduate Letras (Languages and Literature) program at a state university in the interior of Bahia, Brazil. The proposal is grounded in theoretical premises of interdisciplinarity and language studies, understanding language teaching as a situated social practice. Methodologically, the work is characterized as a qualitative experience report, centered on two formative meetings with first-semester pre-service teachers, in which reading and debate activities were carried out and genre-mediated interdisciplinary pedagogical proposals were developed. The results show advances in broadening students' conceptions of Portuguese Language teaching, particularly regarding the articulation among language, social practices, and different fields of knowledge. On the other hand, challenges were also identified related to overcoming discipline-centered perspectives and the limited time available for deepening the activities. The study concludes that interdisciplinarity constitutes a relevant formative principle, whose implementation requires continuity, critical reflection, and systematic integration into teacher education.
